Diamond ring

Brief

Sarah came in to see us with several items of jewellery that she no longer wore and she really wanted to use the diamonds to create a new ring design.

A real statement ring in yellow gold was what Sarah wanted, one that, despite being a large ring was still low on the finger, to enable the ring to be worn each day without it catching on anything. It was also important not to make the design too solid – to create some space in the design to give the finished ring a lightness.

I always ask what shapes and styles of jewellery customers like when I am building a picture of what design style they prefer.

Design Inspiration

When setting about the design for this ring I looked to the sea for softness and movement of form and to the intricate shapes that can be found in wrought iron work.

Gemstones

All the diamonds were varying sizes which was a lovely feature to work with in the design of this ring.

Creation

Once the designs were completed, we invited Sarah to come in to view them. She was delighted and selected the first design of the three presented.

Now it was over to Jonathan to handmade the ring! Using a combination of age old techniques and new technology Sarah’s ring design was created in our workshop here in Lavenham.

The result

The finished ring was presented to Sarah, and she was delighted with the result. The ring looked stunning on her and provided the statement she was looking for.
